Advancing knowledge in rare diseases: independent, professional education and training

The Recordati Rare Diseases Foundation promotes the accurate diagnosis and care of patients affected by a rare disease.  To achieve this, the Foundation develops and delivers tailored solutions in training and education in rare diseases, designed and led by some of the world’s most eminent experts. These are conditions for which there are few continuing medical education options, and most centres are unable to gain expertise as patient numbers are very small.

The Foundation is administered by an independent scientific committee and a board of directors. A broad range of courses are organised by healthcare professionals for healthcare professionals.

Since 2000, participants have attended from across the globe and have included a range of specialists such as: adult and paediatric metabolic specialists, paediatricians, hepatologists, neurologists, internists, movement disorder specialists, neonatologists, biochemists and geneticists. Over 2300 healthcare professionals have received training mainly in the field of rare inherited metabolic disorders.

It has lent familiarity, first hand, with world experts in the field...invaluable. Ultimately, I hope it will help me and others to save children and their families from devastating illness. Thank you so very much for your part in that.”

“This course offered a comprehensive and scientifically rigorous take on a specific neurometabolic topic with growing interest and relevance in child neurology clinical practice.  Very innovative!  The international and 'friendly' atmosphere as well as the small group and interactive structure of the course contributed to making it more participative and enjoyable.  My expectations were more than fulfilled.”
